Why choose an overhead network?

Access to the World Wide Web, has become essential for people to function properly in this age of digital transformation. E-services, remote work and learning require fast and secure connections. For telecommunications operators, this is a clear signal to increase the number of connections on the line: central node – subscriber. But what if the cost and time of the investment is limited? The best solution to such a problem is to choose an overhead network.
Overhead networks have been used in Poland since the 1970s. Their history began with the growing demand for telecommunications networks. The first overhead line poles were wooden, with copper cables. Technical transformation has allowed us to use the existing infrastructure in a way that is adapted to the current user needs faced by telecommunications operators.
As part of the POPC investment activities after 2014, there has been a large expansion of the overhead network infrastructure. Easy access and ample opportunities to add new connections make overhead networks readily used by small and medium-sized telecom operators. Poles leased from telecom and power operators accelerate the rollout of our network.
Positives
- Access to the infrastructure is much simpler than in the case of an overhead telecommunications network, so problems with the infrastructure/operation of the network are resolved more quickly
- Implementation costs are lower
- Implementation time is fast
- Possibility of using the existing infrastructure
Disadvantages
- Exposure to damage associated with adverse weather conditions
- Leasing optical fibres from telecommunications and power operators
The FCA portfolio includes all the elements needed to build an overhead network. We offer reliable expert assistance from the very beginning of the idea, through design to implementation.
